These days only Samson fibre ropes from Proclimber are used saving weight on the vehicles and being more user friendly.

Now working with models from just about every manufacturer on the planet, including keeping up with all the latest electronic stability and traction aids that most vehicles utilise these days.

We are constantly amazed by the attention this humble piece of aluminium (or aloominum as some would say!) receives. Paper or cardboard and a few twigs, soon has 1.5 litres of water boiling for a ”brew”. Three or Four Volcanos have provided large incentive or driving groups with tea and coffee in some spectacular locations around the world and in some cases they seem to have been photographed more than the surrounding glaciers, troglodyte cave homes, Roman amphitheatres and Mayan temples!

Over the years, Garmin GPS units have been used exclusively by Wildtrackers.

Over the years, Garmin GPS units have been used exclusively by Wildtrackers. These days 276 and 278 units are found to be ideal for all applications encountered by the team. Although these units have undoubtedly been tested under lab conditions they’ve proved themselves also, in practical everyday Wildtracker conditions, either in the boiling deserts of Oman and Dubai, on boats being covered in salt spray and most recently at -20c mounted on snowmobiles, with a wind-chill that was causing frostbite to some of the expedition.

These Garmins are used with a selection of Ram mountings and the Oziexplorer mapping program has been used for years to transfer data to scanned maps in both 2D and 3D. Recently Garmin’s own Mapsource is becoming more useful by being registered to more producers of topographic maps, thereby enabling topo information to be loaded directly to the GPS units, helping with navigation on the ground.

Both Oziexplorer and Mapsource allow saved tracks and waypoints to be open and viewed in Google Earth. Now Google Earth allows waypoints and trails to be downloaded direct from the Garmin to produce stunning records of routes taken, especially in 3D!

The CG-Lock is designed to be added to ordinary three point seat belts for on or off road driving to lock the occupants lower body into the seat giving far more confidence to the driver in fast twisty road or rough off road conditions. It’s also a bonus for back pain sufferers as it stops ‘slumping’ in the seats on long or rough journeys.
