DECEMBER 2006, ZAMBIA – As Christmas approached it was back to the South Luangwa National Park, the venue of the successful Wrangler expedition six months earlier.

Wildtrackers’ mission was to devise and implement a programme to improve the car skills of the region’s game drivers. With tourism the lifeblood of the area, public safety is paramount and Duncan and Rob Clifford were to work with several of the local safari operators.

“The purpose was two-fold,” explained Duncan. “We obviously wanted to improve the guides’ driving, but also teach them to drive in a manner that’s more sympathetic to their vehicles and spot potential faults before they happen. Most off-roaders never leave the tarmac, but in this part of the world they’re rarely on it.”
